Data ownership authorization is a SAP Business One functionality used to protect access to individual marketing documents in the same database. Companies may want to restrict access to documents on a need to know basis. The data ownership is restricted based on the user’s relationship with the owner of the document.
This relationships are defined on the Employee Master Data.
If a document has no owner, then it is not restricted by data ownership authorization.
Super users are not restricted by data ownership authorizations.
Possible data ownership relationships are peer, manager, subordinate, team, department, branch and company.
The user and the owner are considered peers if they share the same manager.
A user granted manager authorization can access documents owned by his/her own manager.
A user graned subordinate authoriazation can access documents owned by his/her own subordinates.
A user granted team authorization can access documents owned by his/her own team members.
A user granted department authorization can access documents owned by his/her own department mates.
A user granted branch authorization can access documents owned by his/her own branch mates.
A user granted company authorization can access any document regardless of the owner.
Data ownership methods include: business partner only, document only, business partner & document and branch in cases where the branch functionality is enabled . Only one method can be selected for the company.
