32 Things I Could Tell My Younger Self

April 3, 2018

I am not claiming to be the wisest person at this point, but I’d like to think that I have grown a little wiser over the years. If I could advise a younger version of myself, this is what I would say:

  1. Save money. It doesn’t matter how little.
  2. Sex with someone you don’t love or have a real connection with is a colossal waste of your time and emotions. Emotionless sex is only fun for boys.
  3. It is okay to cry when you need to… Just not in the boardroom.
  4. Emotional intelligence is a crucial kind of intelligence.
  5. It is okay not to be the smartest person in the room.
  6. Spending money on experiences is better than spending money on material things.
  7. You will be rejected more than you will be accepted but don’t let this stop you from going after what you want. Accept rejection as part of life.
  8. Good communication skills is probably the most powerful skill in the corporate world.
  9. You are never too young to start making money.
  10. Your mother is going to be right most of the times.
  11. Never give up on good friendships.
  12. Read books; there is plenty of value hidden in books.
  13. A University Degree is not a guarantee for success in life.
  14. Family isn’t always blood.
  15. Living alone is overrated; it can get super lonely and extremely boring.
  16. Drink a lot of water; your skin/body will thank you for it.
  17. It is okay to talk to a therapist.
  18. Talk less, listen more.
  19. A 3D movie theatre experience is worth your 8 bucks.
  20. When it comes to dressing, comfort is key.
  21. ‘No’ is a complete sentence – it doesn’t need an explanation.
  22. During public speaking, people will focus more on how you speak than what you speak;  be confident and audible to nail it.
  23. Don’t generalize people, everyone is unique.
  24. Hard work does not always pay.
  25. Remember to say ‘Thank you’, ‘ You’re Welcome’ and ‘Please’
  26. Heartbreaks are going to hurt like a bitch; trade carefully when it comes to boys. But time really does heal most wounds.
  27. Play games; games make you happy and smarter.
  28. Start a blog. You will thank yourself two years down the line when your blog is making you passive income.
  29. Talk is cheap; speak when you have results.
  30. Strive to have financial independence and pay your own bills. When you depend on people for money, they will make you their bitch.
  31. Don’t make any permanent marks or piercings on your body.
  32. You love life is not going to ‘just happen’. You have to  go out there, meet people and make it happen. And when you finally meet someone you like, you need to be willing to make the necessary effort, investment and commitment to make it work – nothing good comes easy.

I noted I wasted a lot of time and energy trying to make people see the value in me….. from friends, family ,parents e.t.c and in the end its just a waste of my effing time…. ad rather have spent that time doing what makes me happy like I am currently and my soul and heart are in blissful harmonious symphony.
Also I would tell my younger self to express whatever they feel more often even if it contrasted whatever the majority were for…..

I agree with you Brian. Life it too short to not do what makes you happy. You need to look out for yourself …
